Who We Are and What We Do at the Society

As House Corporation Officers and Chapter Advisors change, we get questions about what we do.  Here are some answers. 

Originated at the University of Illinois in 1988

Public Foundation Status Since 1992

Over $3 Million Awarded in Grants Thus Far for Preservation and Renovation of Chapter Houses

Awarding of Grants is Based Upon Health and Safety Code Requirements, Major Structural Rehabilitation or Restoration, and Interior or Exterior Rehabilitation or Restoration

Goal is to Educate Public of the Historical and Architectural Significance of the Fraternity and Sorority Houses and Preserve and Document the Unique Architecture of these houses

Contributions are Tax-Deductible to Donors for Approved Projects

Opportunity for Foundation to Foundation Transfer for Approved Grants as Alpha Tau Omega will do through The University of Nebraska Foundation and other Members have done through their National Foundations
